Trinovum - Genuine Janssen-Cilag medication

What are the benefits of taking Trinovum?

Triphasic oral contraceptives prevents unwanted pregnancies. This contraceptive treatment provides immediate protection when taken upon natual period commencement and when take as prescribed. Furthermore, Trinovum can also help to reduce period pains and make your periods more regular. Trinovum can also be prescribed as a possible treatment for endometriosis, a common conditin in which womb cells grow outside of the womb.

How does Trinovum work?

Like many other 'combination-pills', Trinovum uses two synthetic hormones, ethinylestradiol (oestrogen) and norethisterone (progestogen) to influence the body's natural menstral cycles. This works by enriching the body with hormone levels that are released during and after ovulation, so that your body thinks an egg discharge has already occurred. The womb lining is also prevented from thickening, so should an egg be released, it won't be able to embed itself. As an additional measure, the hormones prevent semen from entering the womb by thickening the cervical fluid.

Who can take Trinovum?

Most women over the age of 18 can use Trinovum for contraceptive protection, however, it is important that you mention any other conditions that you might have during your free online consultation. These include diabetes, migraines, obesity, blood clotting, gallstones and kidney, liver or heart problems. Like all other combined pill contraceptive pills, it is important to note that Trinovum must not be taken if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding, you should use a mini-pill such as Cerazette, Noriday or Micronor.

How do you take Trinovum?

Trinovum is triphasic, which means that you take medication containing different dosages of the active ingredients at various times in your menstral cycle. Trinovum is a 21 day course with a seven day break between 21 day strips (which is common for all combined pill treatments).

For immediate protection you should start taking Trinovum on the first day of your period. You start by taking the seven white tablets containing 35 micrograms ethinylestradiol and .5 milligrams norethisterone, followed by seven light orange tablets that contain 35 micrograms ethinylestradiol and .75 milligrams norethisterone. The course is then completed with the seven darker orange tablets that contain 35 micrograms ethinylestradiol and 1 milligram norethisterone.
