Celebrities You’d Have Never Guessed Were Related
You may not have noticed, but lots of people in Hollywood are in fact related to each other. Some are obvious, such as James & Dave Franco (brothers), Joan & John Cusack (brother and sister), Owen & Luke Wilson (brothers) and Steve & Liz Tyler (father and daughter), but some Hollywood relations may just surprise you…
Melissa McCarthy and Jenny McCarthy
One started to make a name for herself on the hit T US TV series Gilmore Girls, and one started out as a Playboy Playmate, but both have ended up with roles in some huge movies. Many didn’t realise they were cousins until Melissa won an Emmy and Jenny tweeted “Congrats to my cousin Melissa McCarthy on her Emmy win!!”
Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez
Charlie and Emilio are both brothers, both actors, and son to movie star Martin Sheen. Estevez is the family surname, but Martin adopted Sheen as his stage name which Charlie then went on to adopt too, whilst Emilio was happy to keep his official surname.
Julia Roberts and Emma Roberts
Julia Roberts has been in numerous hit movies, including Pretty Woman, and Emma is making a name for herself with roles in movies such as We’re The Millers, Nancy Drew and Wild Child. Emma is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts, brother of Julia Roberts, therefore the niece of Julia Roberts – what a cool aunt to have!
Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson
Goldie and Kate are, believe it or not, mother and daughter! With two different surnames it’s easy to see why so many people had no idea they were related, but if you look at pictures of the two together you’ll immediately see the similarities. The due are also good friends with mother & daughter duo Dakota Johnson and Melanie Griffith.
Elizabeth Olsen and Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen
With the Olsen twins rising to fame from such a young age on the TV series, Fuller House, and then going on to have their own show, movies, fashion lines and much more, many of us were surprised to hear that they’re not the only siblings in the family. Sister, Elizabeth Olsen, has created an acting career of her own, separate to her sisters, with roles in hit movies Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Kim Kardashian and Brody Jenner
Whilst not related by blood, the marriage of Kris Jenner and Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) saw the unity of two families, uniting the Kardashian sisters with Brody Jenner, before Kris and Bruce went on to have children together (Kendall and Kylie). Brody, who shot to fame in Laguna Beach and The Hills, isn’t photographed very often with the Kardashians, who have their own TV series.
Ray J and Brandy
Speaking of the Kardashians, Ray J and Brandy, both singers who have dabbled in acting, are in fact brother and sister – although many will have heard Ray J’s name due to the sex tape that him and Kim Kardashian created which has gone on to be seen by many.
Drew Barrymore and Steven Spielberg
Whilst not directly related, Drew Barrymore grew up surrounded by celebrities and came to meet Steve Spielberg when she was just six years old and was auditioning for a role in the Poltergeist. Whilst she wasn’t right for the role, Steven offered her an audition for E.T. which we all know she got the job for and aced the movie! Hitting a bad spot in her life, at the tender age of 14, Drew ended up in rehab and this led to Spielberg becoming her official godfather.
And if this is anything to go by, can you imagine who else may be related in one way or another in Hollywood? But one thing’s for sure, fame is definitely in the genes of some families and I, for one, would love to know how I go about being adopted into one of these famous families…
